‘‘I am excited about the Connecting Artists exhibition in July at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin. This will be an opportunity for me to display my work and meet in person with the other artists.’’
— Richard Hickey, Connecting Artists 2024 Participant
My name is Richard Hickey.
I live in Galway City and I am a participant in the Arts Alive programme in Galway’s west end. Through the Arts Alive programme, I heard about the Connecting Artists programme.
I have for a number of years practised Interpretive Dance and have taken part in performances with my friends in Speckled Egg Dance. I practice Hip Hop and Jazz, and perform with the Genevieve Ryan Dance Company. I have also acted in a number of productions with the Blue Teapot Theatre Company.
I am one of ten artists with the Arts Alive programme who are presenting a unique audio visual art exhibition called “Identity” in Nun’s Island Theatre in April 2024.
I enjoy working hard and always like to just get on with the task at hand. I love colour and all of my pieces tend to be very colourful. As an artist, I enjoy creating original pieces but also enjoy doing scraper boards and colouring in other artists’ work.
I am excited about the Connecting Artists exhibition in July in the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin. This will be an opportunity for me to display my work and meet in person with the other artists.
